Those marketing folks at Sony know what they are doing! Just when you thought the PS3 was done like dinner, they announce a new version of the PS3 which is smaller and cheaper. I know, big deal you say. You want to buy PS4, not another PS3. I'm just giving an update just in case you thought some great PS4 news was coming up soon. Not so fast I say! Looks like Sony needs to make back some more money from this generation console. It seems to me, but none of the big three gaming companies are rushing out to make a console. I think as the hardware gets more complex, it gets more expensive. Add to that, it takes longer for them to make their money back. In addition, Sony wants to treat their game developers fairly also. It's a lot harder for them to make back money because games are very expensive to create for the PS3. The longer the PS3 remains on the store shelves, the greater opportunity for people to actually make money on the games they released. It's a win win and I totally understand why Sony has delayed moving forward on their PS4. So sit back and enjoy your PS3 for another year folks. You can buy PS4 a bit later on.

Updated August 2009: With the recent launch of the PS3 Slim, experts aren't expecting the PS4 release date to be 2010 like was thought before. Of course predicting a PS4 release date is a long shot, so let's hope the experts are wrong and it get an earlier release date!

Will PS4 outsell the PS3?

Think back to the day you heard about the PS3. I'm sure you had a PS2 and were becoming a bit bored with it. If you remember, the launch of the PS3 was frantic, then things died off a bit shortly thereafter. It's true that the Wii and Xbox 360 took away some marketshare for the Sony Playstation, but it wasn't the competitors that cost them money. They were the victims of their own technology.

Sure Blueray was impressive, but it added a huge cost to manufacturing the PS3. The PS4 has one advantage already. Blueray is out, and the PS4 will be cheaper to produce. That fact alone is reason enough for Sony PS4 to outsell the PS3 easily.
